Top leaders in Minnesota from Lt. Governor Tina Smith to the Consul General of Canada, Jamshed Merchant gathered to pay tribute to departing Consul General of Mexico, Alberto Fierro Garza. With Consul General Fierro’s active involvement, Governor Mark Dayton led a trade delegation to Mexico, one of the very few trade missions the Governor has led during his tenure. Mexico is one of Minnesota’s largest trade partners.
Leaders present reflected the wide reach of Consul General Fierro’s active engagement with Minnesotans: President Rassoul Datzmod, St. Paul College, Ruby Lee, President of Clues, Luz Frias, Vice President, The Minneapolis Foundation, Steve Thal, immigration attorney, Bruce Corrie, Concordia University, John Keller, Immigrant Law Center, Alberto Monserrate, New Publica, Luis Fitch, UNO, Kelly Regan, Bremer Bank, Rodolfo Gutierrez, HACER, Lydia Hinojosa, Cultural Connections, JoAnne Stately, Minneapolis Foundation, Sam Verdeja, Twins Community Fund Board, Ann Mullohand, Vice President, Minnesota Philanthropy Partners, and Mariano Espinoza a champion for undocumented workers in Minnesota.
