Teen owned iPerform Theatre features a unique production called, Kit’s Journey, on July 29 and 30, 2015 at Maternity of Mary St. Andrew school
(592 Arlington Avenue West, St. Paul) at 7 pm. The play was written by Northwestern University freshman Zach Schroeder, music by co-founder Cristina Corrie and lyrics by 7th grader, Sean Corrie. The play is directed and managed by teen business owners Cristina Corrie and Molly Raths with the help of teen interns.
For the past seven weeks over 30 kids of varying ages worked hard, had fun and now are gearing up for the performance which is opened to the public. Kit’s Journey is an original children’s play about a squirrel who gets lost on her way back to the nest and has to work with other animals to get back home (all while avoiding the evil owls who want to eat her for lunch).
From performances in Cristina’s backyard to a contract with the Saint Paul Parks and Recs these teenagers have taken the company to new heights each year. This year it has been the training of younger teens to take over the management of the company when the co-founders are busy with their college life. Also new this year, due to the large number of students signing up for the program, they have added two performances on July 28 and 29, 2015.
Parents are very enthusiastic about the way this program has energized their children and brought out the best in them.
