Diversity Gap in State Agency Employment

by CHAI Team

One has to really search to find the annual State Workforce Report and once it is found the results are quite shocking. Relative to its share of population there is a significant gap in employment of the ALANA communities. Page 16 of the report reveals that ALANA communities make up 13.9 percent of the workforce but only 9.1 percent of state employees. ALANA workers were only 15 percent of the new hires in 2014.

Strange this issue did not get the same visibility as the recent executive pay issue!
